AIAN FACES: How it Started (3:16)
Speakers: Mavany Verdugo, Jacki Haight, WJ Strickland
Prior to AIAN FACES, Region XI teachers, families, and children had not historically been included in the collection of nationally representative information. Advocates including Tribal leaders, Region XI directors, and researchers advocated for the AIAN FACES study which then included the use of the principles of tribal participatory research and followed tribal research protocols. Hear from some of the workgroup members about the creation of AIAN FACES by clicking the below video.
The workgroup created a first-person account of their perspectives and historic participation in the AIAN FACES 2015 effort. This article was published in the American Journal of Community Psychology and can be accessed here .
