Additional Info:  The mission of this historically black, land-grant institution is to provide opportunities for a diverse student population to achieve a high-quality, global educational experience, to engage in scholarly, research, and creative activities, and to give meaningful public service to the community, the state, the nation, and the world so that Southern University graduates are competent, informed, and productive citizens. This program is run by the Department of Social Work and serves fathers in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, and Pointe Coupee parishes. Additional Info: This private, non-profit agency provides services to minority and economically underprivileged residents in the rural parishes of St. Mary and Vermilion in Louisiana. It operates Head Start centers, neighborhood service centers, elderly living units, an emergency shelter, and a housing subdivision. Its programs also encompass housing, youth development, and home improvement training.  The program offers fatherhood and parenting classes, provides parent/child interactive sessions, and sponsors legal education and fatherhood mentoring. Group sessions are also available.
