Maine Replacement Designee
Dear Colleague Letter 17-04
Date: March 3, 2017
Dear Colleague:
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has selected a Replacement Designee (RD) to administer the refugee resettlement program for the state of Maine, commencing operations on March 4, 2017. ORR has also chosen a Medical Replacement Designee (MRD). The organizations designated are:
Replacement Designee: Catholic Charities Maine (CCM)
Medical Replacement Designee: U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI)
The Replacement Designees will assume the role previously held by the State of Maine to provide critical services and benefits to refugees and other populations served by ORR in Maine.
Catholic Charities Maine, the selected RD, will be responsible for most refugee resettlement programs previously administered by the state agency, including Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), Refugee Medical Screening (RMS), Refugee Social Services (RSS) and Targeted Assistance Grant (TAG) programs. As the MRD, USCRI will be responsible for medical insurance coverage under Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA).
ORR values the support and partnership of states, including Maine, to welcome and integrate newcomers into the fabric of our nation.
ORR and its federal partners are working with states to ensure that all ORR-served populations have access to the critical resources needed to help them rebuild their lives in the United States, while continuing to protect the safety and security of communities.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Tota
Acting Director
Office of Refugee Resettlement
