Refugee Technical Assistance Grantee

Dear Colleague:

I am pleased to announce that ORR has selected the International Rescue Committee (IRC), in partnership with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), to serve as the new grantee for refugee technical assistance program for the grant period FY 2019 — FY 2022. During this new four-year project cycle, ORR seeks to create a one-stop source for refugee-related technical assistance (TA), training, information, resources, and research to assist ORR-funded state refugee programs, resettlement agencies, and other service providers.

The goals of the program are to improve refugee service providers’ capacity to (1) provide evidence and strengths-based programming that addresses barriers refugees face in accessing mainstream and specialized services, education and employment; (2) measure the quality and effectiveness of those programs and; (3) communicate program results. IRC will draw on the expertise of resettlement and integration practitioners.

IRC will conduct initial and ongoing needs assessments to solicit input from states, providers, and ORR staff to determine the areas of TA focus, which may include refugee self-sufficiency through employment, trauma-informed refugee health, refugee child and family well-being, and program evaluation.

We are hopeful that IRC will be helpful to the work you do on behalf of refugees and encourage you to contact them directly with specific technical assistance needs.
