January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month , an opportunity to raise awareness on how we can all prevent and respond to human trafficking. It is also a time to acknowledge and celebrate the progress that survivor leaders, anti-trafficking organizations, communities, and allies have achieved, from meeting emergency and long-term needs to identifying risk factors and preventing human trafficking.
Our theme for Human Trafficking Prevention Month 2023 is Partner to Prevent. We will be highlighting the importance of partnerships and collaboration in strengthening anti-trafficking efforts. Human trafficking is a crime and public health issue that impacts individuals, families, and communities, profiting from exploitation and weakening our collective well-being. Preventing human trafficking requires partnerships across all levels of government and sectors of society.
Throughout January, OTIP will promote resources tailored for frontline professionals in positions to prevent and proactively address human trafficking in their workplaces. Working together to build knowledge and skills within organizations and across sectors will strengthen the Nation’s efforts in supporting patients, clients, and students impacted by human trafficking and interrelated forms of violence.
