Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons Releases 2024 Trafficking in Persons Report

July 2, 2024

The State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons   has released the 2024 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report. The TIP Report is a comprehensive assessment of anti-trafficking efforts in 188 countries and territories, including the U.S., documenting emerging trends, highlighting progress and setback areas, and identifying effective initiatives in addressing human trafficking.

This year’s report included a focus on the intersection of digital technology and human trafficking.

"Digital tools have amplified the reach, scale, and speed of trafficking… At the same time, technology is also one of our most powerful tools to combat this enduring scourge… As technology makes it easier for traffickers to operate across geographies and jurisdictions, those of us committed to rooting out this horrendous crime — in government, businesses, civil society — can and must work together and coordinate our efforts." Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken

The report also includes several topics of special interest including forced marriage, human trafficking and persons with disabilities, workers’ rights and organ trafficking. of State Blinken discussed the TIP report during a livestream event where he, and Ambassador-at-Large Cindy Dyer, honored ten 2024 TIP Report Heroes for their significant efforts to combat human trafficking.
