In March 2019, ACF participated in a panel discussion at the symposium "Building an Inclusive Workforce of the Future." The event centered on the future of work, exploring the potential impacts on individuals who may be particularly susceptible to unemployment and underemployment. The symposium featured 18 subject matter expert panelists—including Katherine Chon, Director of OTIP—and more than 120 attendees from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
This week, Deloitte, the host of the Symposium, published a report synthesizing findings from the event and elevating pathways to stable and inclusive employment for three historically marginalized groups: refugees, survivors of trafficking, and formerly incarcerated persons. The paper summarizes barriers to accessing social, economic, and environmental resources; highlights the work of several dedicated organizations; and describes tactical strategies for the commercial, non-profit, and hybrid sectors in building coalitions to take on equity challenges.
