State Justice Institute Establishes Grant Guidelines for FY 2020

October 8, 2019

On October 8, the State Justice Institute (SJI) established Priority Investment Areas for grant funding . SJI was established by the State Justice Institute Authorization Act of 1984 (42 U.S.C. 10701 et seq.) to improve the administration of justice in the state courts of the United States. SJI is authorized to provide funding to state courts, national organizations that support and are supported by state courts, national judicial education organizations, and other organizations that can assist in improving the quality of justice in the state courts.

SJI will allocate significant financial resources through grant-making for ten Priority Investment Areas, including the Human Trafficking and the State Courts Collaborative, which will address the impact of federal and state human trafficking laws on the state courts, and the challenges faced by state courts in dealing with cases involving trafficking victims and their families.
