New Module: SOAR for Native Communities

SOAR Online: New Module: SOAR for Native CommunitiesWe are pleased to announce the launch of the SOAR for Native Communities online module through the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center (NHTTAC). Using a public health approach, this online module helps those serving indigenous populations gain more understanding of human trafficking and its impact on Native communities. The training includes resources relevant to indigenous populations and helps professionals build trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies to address human trafficking in American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

This free training was developed in collaboration with:

  • HHS Administration for Native Americans (ANA)
  • National Council of Urban Indian Health (NCUIH)
  • Jeri Moomaw, Innovations Human Trafficking Collaborative
  • Gwendolyn Packard, National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center
  • Theresa Friend, Forensic Nurse Consultant, Indian Health Service
  • Bonnie Clairmont, Tribal Law and Policy Institute
  • Kandi Fowler, Project Beacon, American Indian Center of Chicago

SOAR Online is a series of training modules that can be completed anytime, anywhere. Because individuals who have experienced trafficking or who are at risk of trafficking access a variety of services, SOAR Online includes training tailored for specific professionals on how to identify and respond to human trafficking. The HHS SOAR to Health and Wellness training is administered by OTIP in partnership with the HHS Office on Women’s Health through NHTTAC. NHTTAC delivers training and technical assistance (T/TA) to inform and enhance the public health response to human trafficking. Contact NHTTAC at or 844-648-8822 to find out how you can request T/TA for your agency or conference.
