State Proclamations for National Human Trafficking Prevention Month 2023

January 24, 2023

On December 30, 2022, the White House issued a proclamation declaring January 2023 as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and educate all members of society on how they can prevent and respond to human trafficking. Proclamations from governors, mayors, and other public officials can strengthen interest, inspire local communities, and celebrate progress achieved through ongoing efforts.

This year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services included a sample proclamation in its Human Trafficking Prevention Month Toolkit that public officials can use to reaffirm their commitment to address human trafficking. The sample proclamation includes background information on human trafficking, including influencing factors, strategies for supporting those impacted, and additional resources.
