Love146 is an international human rights organization whose vision is to see the end of child trafficking by journeying alongside children impacted by trafficking today and preventing the trafficking of children tomorrow. Partnering with Dekalb County School District through OTIP’s Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education Demonstration Program, Love146 has incorporated their Not a Number violence prevention curriculum into 18 high schools throughout the district. Not a Number is based on strong program theory and researched best practices in prevention education. The curriculum uses a public health approach to help students understand vulnerabilities and challenge the stereotypes and attitudes that create them.

Love146 recognizes the connection between trafficking and technology and how this has impacted their work with Dekalb County School District. The internet is a prominent and popular gathering space for youth and adults alike. Love 146 is providing professional development training to Dekalb school staff to help them understand how grooming, exploitation, and recruitment can manifest online. Bridging a generational gap, the trainings explore how the internet shapes the way students communicate with one another and connect with the world, as well as the associated risks. Additionally, social workers, counselors, and educators underwent training from Love146 to become certified facilitators of the Not a Number curriculum to bring these important conversations to youth directly in classrooms. By creating opportunities for dialogue, students in Dekalb County and the staff that support them will be better equipped with the tools that they need to feel safe and prepared.
