To better understand the needs of youth served by the Street Outreach Program, FYSB funded 11 grantees to participate in a data collection effort in partnership with the Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF). From March through September 2013, 656 young people who were experiencing homelessness between the ages of 14-21 were interviewed for the project. Although the sample is not nationally representative, the data provide detailed information about the experiences and service needs of the youth from around the country who participated in the project. The intent is that data from the project will be used to inform service design to better meet the needs of street youth who obtain and access services through street outreach programs.
The Executive Summary of the Report was released in October 2014. A final report will be available early in 2015.
