Program
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) supports projects that
- Lessen poverty in communities
- Address the needs of low-income individuals including the homeless, migrants and the elderly
- Provide services and activities addressing employment, education, better use of available income, housing, nutrition, emergency services and/or health.
Services Available
The following employment services are examples of services provided by CSBG- funded community organizations:
- Support for job retention, including counseling, training, and supportive services;
- Skills training, job application assistance, resume writing and job placement; and
- On-the-job training and opportunities for work:
- Job development;
- Vocational training for high school students and the creation of internships and summer jobs; and/or
- Other specialized adult employment training.

CSBG funds are not awarded directly to individuals.
